Funny who? (Re-posting)
It says the best way to assess the motives behind someone’s jokes is to evaluate the nature of it.You see,jokes has many faces. It can be biting,rude,corny,subtle & funny.It SOMETIMES disguise real emotions;the woman may not want to reveal her jealousy, would says to the husband, ” Look darling, a big boobie girl,isn’t she pretty?!” she should take that comment seriously trying to distract the poor husband on her attempt not to reveal her jellyness.Truth is,she meant ” Dum dum you! Don’t look!!”lol
Jokes can be used to bring people together or to maintain distance.For some, it’s their tool of their aggression especially those who are making jokes at someone else’s expense.
Pinayfriend:Che, This is Myra!*ngiti*
Me:Oh hi Myra!awww nice name *ngiti habang inaabot kamay*
Myra:Che?!sounds like a dog! *tawa*
Me:’Cherry’ is my full name actually *ngiting aso taas kilay*lol

Me: Yeaaah right!Should I change it for you dear? *ngiting amoy plastik*
Myra: I can almost smell your babies names would be apples & oranges hahaha that would be veeeery coooorny *tawang sisa kita na ang gilagid*

Me: oh hi Dwight! *pa cute lol*
Dwight-kanong cute sana: hi,cherry pleased to meet you! can I eat your cherry? *ngiting bastos*
Me-speaking dialect to pinay friend:Uhh,that’s rude I don’t like him! I don’t like him at all*while smiling to dwight*! hambastos naman ng mamang ito sarap ilibing patiwarik!:o
These are perfect example of the worsiest acquiantances (happened in the early 90’s) I’ve ever had. Even I decide their nasty remarks wasn’t a veiled criticism. It somehow humiliate me as a person. I never get a chance to know them even that Myra.I still like her name ‘though,her name sounded like a ‘sex bomba star’ to me mwehehehe
Whenever I hear someone follow a PAINFUL but ‘not-so’ funny humorous remark with ‘Just kidding’ I pay attention.They’re usually not kidding at all.They’re just trying to disguise.These people are actually heartless insensitive idiots!Watch out,they bite!
Speaking of the funniest,If you promise not to tell my husband,lol I have this impetuous admiration for Craig Ferguson after watching a bunch of youtube CBS clips from his late night past weeks shows.The combination of a biting observations & clever criticisms allows his silliest jokes to hit you by surprise.He’s a great improviser No cue cards That’s brilliant!I heard he’s scottish.No wonder he’s got a sexy accent lol

first of all, your blog looks weird on my flock browser. the side bar went off all the way to the bottom while the YouTube stands in the middle like “hello, this is my space, you hear me?” position. Waaahh fix it! (ok maybe it’s just me).
On the funny things, I laugh at everything I hear whenever I go home sa Pinas. Lahat ng tao doon they speak the gay-lingo’ di ko sila maintindihan. Corny ang dating pero natatawa naman ako. Kapag ang jokes sa tagalog, nakakatawa kapag trinanslate mo yun, PANIS. Ket kaya?

It was a little hard reading it with all the filipino words – but I did get how tactless people can be! It really irks me how people can throw out insipid comments like that for someone they don’t even really know.
I must say that I get easily intimidated with older Filipino ladies when I first meet them and they make tactless comments (there are just too many to mention)…somewhow I never have a good comeback for it. I just kind of walk away from it…but then I get called as a snob whenever I do so. I don’t really get it.

Hahahaha… tawa ako nang tawa sa conversations na nilagay mo. I react the same way pag ganun ang reactions ng kausap ko. Myra was a bit tactless… and Dwight is a perve! hehehe… Ngiting aso, ngiting Orocan (plastic), kelangan ma-perfect mga to para d tayo mabaliw sa mga kausap natin.
I saw Craig Ferguson before when he was still a regular on the Drew Carey Show. He has a show na now? Grabe talaga delay ng telecasts here sa Pinas.

I can imagine your difficulties understanding them lol ‘Planggana’ word for example, you may undertand it as ‘basin’ or plastic container but for many pinoys,it’s a slang word for ‘I’m with you’ or I agree with you’ .Planggana-> usually made of plastic. The ‘plangganahan’ word above was my version w/c literally means ‘insincere’ or hypocrisy.I think,this explaination is even confusing than intended eh?!hehe
I know what you mean re: elderly pinoy ladies. I have the feeling that it’s their insensitive way to get laugh or make a point how charming their stings are lol God, I hate ’some of’ them!

hey Cheh,
I really looked in the website and it was the best problogging site I have ever come across. I really wanna do it but I think I am gonna shelve it muna until next year (which isn’t very far away! hehe) I was looking at the 7 – 10 posts a week and nagfaint ako. I used to blog almost everyday before nung d pa gaano busy here sa office. BUt projects are coming in really fast, ganun talaga here sa office, everyone wants to build something in January. Plus, me and my sister and a friend are planning to venture into a Business kaya that will take up some time as well. Haaayy.. I think 2007 will be real busy for me. WHen the waters start to calm down and normal na uli ang pace ng buhay ko, I’ll consider problogging again.

Reading “Myra” literally and pronouncing it in “barok” Ilonggo, “Mayra” becomes “Mira” – meaning eye-booger. Let’s see if she’ll find THAT funny. Gosh that guy is super rude! You could have slapped his 2 cheeks!! I’ve just told a colleague who was supposedly joking with me this week that he joke was so rude! She said, well it was a joke and I said, well jokes are halfway meant! So don’t ever say that again! Hmmm! she probably got scared to kid with me now.
