German must learn German?

Despite being German? this cracked me up to no end really.lolĀ

When 70-year-old Ulrich Kring applied for a Swiss passport, he didn’t think it would be such a big problem. But the German didn’t count on the inflexibility of the Swiss bureaucratic system.

All foreigners wanting to obtain a Swiss passport have to take a German language course as part of the process. And despite being German and speaking the German language, well, like a native, Kring has been ordered to go back to school to learn his own native tongue.

According to the Tages Anzeiger newspaper, Kring — who has lived in Switzerland his entire life — has to pay 250 Swiss francs (152 euros, $222) to attend a German-language course before he can be considered for a passport. The Dielsdorf authorities are standing firm, saying that the class is obligatory and that the town will not make an exception for the German national.

Kring has lodged an appeal against the decision with a higher local authority, but has yet to hear back from them.

nyheheheeh — at least hindi lang pala tayong mga pinoy ang may katok sa ulo, pati mga puti makulet din, hehehe… edi ba sa switzerland they have four official languages – german, french, romanisch and english. e bakit si german guy pa ang dapat mag aral ng german, baka pag tapos na sya ng german course e punta naman sya dun sa other three, hehe. iumpog na lang nya ulo nya sa pader.

    Hello cheH!

    :D :) :D

May mga alam ako na more than 20 years na sila sa Kanton na yon, tuwing apply dahil people have to vote, laging narereject. Actually lahat na nag-apply, regardless of how many years na sila sa Kanton na yon, rejected, grabe nga e. Di naman sila basta-basta makapag-transfer sa ibang Kanton dahil they will have to start from scratch again. Yong number of years nila sa ibang Kanton won’t be counted.

Noon pa man, nasabi ko na sa sarili ko, kahit saang sulok ng mundo, regardless of race and color, walang pagkakaiba.

Haba ng sinulat ko a, puwedeng blog entry to a. Hehehehe…

O shya, manay, have a nice weekend!

    Ay nga pala, pahabol…

Depende sa Kanton at depende sa community or town, tawag dito e Gemeinde, o kaya depende sa city.

    O shya… :)

It was said that Switzerland is the most ‘racist’ country in Europe (perhaps in the world). Many articles in BBC points to how intolerant the Swiss are. Don’t know how true this is but the articles were based on facts. It surely makes the immigration problems here in the Netherlands a minuscule thing.

That sounds weird. People sure have weird rules/laws. One time I couldn’t go into a college because they wanted me to ask permission of the high school that I never been to.
